landscape architecture and ecology, bikes and bikepacking, urbanism, little bluestem. philly transplant.
i think the racism very much predates the religion in conservative politics. most of the modern conservative movement has thrown a fit since FDR over expanding the state in ways that help minorities. religion has just helped launder hateful ideas and unify white christians.

you literally started the debate by making a cultural idea into a scientific one.

there’s no universal definition of a vegetable, since it includes leaves, florets, roots, tubers, stems, and, yes, fruits like tomato, eggplant, peppers, green beans, and summer and winter squash. it’s just sort of plant parts prepared in a savory way.
November 26, 2025 at 12:54 PM
that’s getting pedantic. winter squash is generally considered a vegetable and used in savory dishes. it’s pretty much the same when mashed as sweet potato.

like it sort of makes sense at first glance, probably increases LOS and car throughput metrics (the only metric that they care about) but in practice any driver is still going slower than they want and the stop signs get more frustrating as you start to assume you’re on a collector when you aren’t.

i interned at a planning firm once. my boss was a recovering transportation engineer and he was quite clear that most metrics and conventions were either counterproductive (LOS, parking minimums), or just based on vibes. this sounds a lot like vibes.

i too am glowing, but with jealousy. nice job.

hard to beat a good loaf of black beans and mushrooms. not pretending to be anything other than fiber barely glued together

but not impeached? i’m not clear why you haven’t suggested that.

chicago and nyc are comfortable being cities. la stubbornly thinks of itself as suburban even if much of the city isn’t, and the greater la region is a collection of like 200 overgrown villages that contribute to this understanding.

terrible city to bike in, never ridden anywhere so hostile, despite having the potential to be among the best cities for it.

the TA’s are almost certainly running the class anyway.
November 18, 2025 at 1:22 PM
no, i think this is the correct time to give everyone A’s and apologize to all the women in his class who had to put up with his yearning.

the inquirer mentions increased education funding a few other things which is great but it seems like they traded away a lot of good stuff for like one decent victory. not impressed if you favor the gambling and horse racing lobbies over septa.

extremely unfair to brutalist architecture, which is beautiful and functional and born of utopian ideals

ok come on dude, houston is like the 3rd most diverse city in the country and you can get good tacos all over the place at this point.
November 17, 2025 at 11:38 PM
not akin? detroit has a very high crime rate, dearborn is full of middle eastern immigrants, i’m surprised they haven’t tbh. only explanation is that they only have the staff to do one city at a time and they’ll get to detroit eventually (and philly, oakland, etc).
