Worse, the committee is made up of people who inherited a lot of commercial real estate money - a business where "branding" only matters to a small number of potential customers, most of whom behave pretty rationally about lease/buy decisions.

I think we miss something by criticizing any individual Pohlad. The real problem is structural - it's a committee and that complicates everything, especially in a business like baseball.
