If you had to ask a non-Torontonian to name two stores in Toronto in my youth, they’d have probably coughed up at least one of Honest Ed’s or Sam the Record Man. Both of course were noted for their conventional facades and selection of merchandise.

Try as I might to forget the entirety of my grade 6 elementary school music curriculum, I sadly still recall being subjected to a song that had “Run Terry Run” as the chorus. My days in grade 6 predate the release of Forrest Gump by about a decade.

In the aftermath of Mamdani’s victory in NY, I’ve seen several people point out that politics can either be a team that we pick, or a thing that we do. The Conservative leadership is very firmly in the former camp, and it’s antithetical to making any progress on anything.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that entirely, but I'd absolutely agree with the idea that the key to a successful life is having *some* goals so low you can trip over them. It frees you to set higher goals elsewhere.
