I missed my website’s 29th birthday a few days ago. 1996 is so long ago it really was a different world.

The first 4 years of its life it was a website for my consulting business and for the last 25 years it’s been a blog, running on many different blogging platforms.

I just bought my ticket to see the newish Eno generative documentary film, which is being shown as a 24-hour online event on January 24th.

I’m a longtime Eno fan and this is the first chance I’ve had to see the doc and I’m stoked.

Weird seeing a typo in a New York Times puzzle. This is from today’s Zorse - which is their latest word puzzle, still in beta.

Or is it right and just too clever for me to get?

We could do this people!

If the US adopts “Canadian Thanksgiving” (second Monday each October), and Canada celebrates “US Thanksgiving” (fourth Thursday each November), we both get two days to be thankful and eat turkeys.

win-win!

Have you played crokinole? Have you even heard of crokinole?

If so, you’re probably from Southern Ontario.

If it’s new to you, let Pudding Cool give you an interactive introduction to this lovely game.

The post-Twitter social media landscape has settled down for me. I’m active on three separate networks, spread across Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads, in that order of preference. I think I’ll be able to take Threads out of the mix fairly ... https://schafer.com/2024/11/27/the-posttwitter-social.html

@maris.bsky.social I’m curious about your book annotations (like this page from your newsletter).

Does it help your first read, or is it for future reference? Or something else.

I never marked-up books, having been taught marginalia and highlighting are vandalism. Which is undoubtably wrong.

While it’s rare that I post these days, but I read my whole feed every day. I’m really liking BlueSky a lot, and proud of my extreme early adopter status of 306/10,000,000!

Jonathan Demme’s “Stop Making Sense” is definitely the best concert film ever and I’m pretty sure it’s in my top ten movies ever.

Hey @darthbluesky.bsky.social Meet Betty. She is two months old. She is weaponized cuteness.

I had such a crush on Peggy Lipton when I was a kid. I even collected Mod Squad bubblegum cards.

Big “my name is Kenneth” energy in that bird.

Mrs Davis is like if they gave all the alternate reality scenes in The Leftovers their own spin-off. Therefore it is amazing and amazingly weird.

I only went viral once and it was by accident. I meant to send this random venn diagram joke to my daughters but posted it to the birdsite instead. And a million people saw it.

Am I losing my mind or are the light/dark mode toggle labels on Bluesky backwards? If I’m in Light Mode shouldn’t the toggle read Dark Mode?

Or is it like this everywhere and I just realized it?
