can you share a snippet of a WIP you're excited about 👀👀👀 “Your father can’t control your whole life,” Ed insisted, catching Stede’s hands, and for a brief, beautiful moment, it seemed laughably possible. “Fuck him. Fuck all of them.” “I can’t,” Stede said again, more faintly than before. Ed held Stede’s face again with those solid, beautiful hands, looked into his eyes, begged. “Stede. What do you want? What will make you happy?” There were footsteps then, frantic ones. Raised voices.  He tried to memorize those eyes. The almost-hazel tawny of them, how wide and expressive they always were, how much hope was held there. He tried to remember, as the footsteps drew closer. “I can’t leave my wife,” Stede told him. By the time he was found, Ed was gone.

happy #WIPWednesday here’s stede doing some enthusiastic cabbage harvesting and ed being horny about it
It's great to have the help, and Stede's a great student; he watches carefully as Ed demonstrates, asks questions, rolls up his sleeves with fervor. Ed lends him a knife , and he gets down in the dirt without a second of hesitation to demonstrate what he's learned. The problem, Ed discovers with aroused horror, is that he's never been this close to Stede while he's working. Specifically, he's never been close enough to watch the way every muscle moves in Stede's taut biceps and shoulders, to see the single bead of sweat that starts at his temple and gently rolls, slowly, languidly, hedonistcly down his face to his jaw, clinging there before it falls into the hollow of his collarbone— "Ed! Ed, I did it, look!" Stede proudly brandishes his freshly cut cabbage, sprinkling dirt over the both of them, and Ed has to forcibly tackle himself out of an illicit fantasy involving his tongue and Stede's clavicle. Anyway. It's great to have the help.

Why don't you put this thing down for a sec—" In retrospect, Ed maybe could've done something; stepped in the middle of it, encouraged the man in flannel to leave, maybe stopped him from touching those knitting needles. He just watched instead, fully watched, giving up on pretending he wasn't watching, as the wine toppled all over Stede's trousers and one of those needles slashed right across the other man's palm, drawing blood. "Oh no," said Stede, very unconvincingly.

i got fewer comments than usual on the new PB chapter so i was worried people are just over this fic (understandable! my regular schedule is kind of out the window and it’s been a while) but then i got this so im going to pretend thats why it’s been quieter lmao
