There’s a law — and I’m not sure of the exact wording, but grocery stores are required to have the same retail prices for SNAP recipients as regular customers. I wonder if a special promotion would be allowed under that law? I really hope so.

If teachers were given $50k signing bonuses and $100k salaries, we wouldn’t have to work two jobs just to survive. And we’d be able to purchase some pretty awesome resources for our students.

It’s pretty bad where I work too. Teacher salaries are so low, they can’t afford to even rent an apartment without getting a second job.

You are absolutely right. I work in one of those schools. Title 1 in a red state. The students I work with have disabilities and most come from very poor families.

She speaks for a lot of us right now. I’m a single mom with one kid in middle school and one starting college. I work as a paraprofessional in a title one school. I barely make a living wage. Cost of living keeps going up, while salaries have not.
