Just days after a federal court ordered a pause on mass layoffs at VOA, all VOA staff have been furloughed in response to the government shutdown. This is a sharp departure from past practice, when VOA remained on the air due to our role in foreign relations essential for U.S. national security.

Judge Royce Lamberth ruled that the agency cannot move forward with its planned mass layoffs.
