Save Standard Time
@savestandard.bsky.social
Ditch Daylight Saving Time. Permanent Standard Time lets us sleep later for health, mood, safety, education, economy, and environment. We’re a 501(c)(4) nonprofit.
How do we ditch DST, how can we save Standard Time?

“Studies looking at each side of time zones show social jet-lag of being forced to get up an hour earlier relative to dawn. Permanent Daylight Saving Time would lead to health getting worse. A better option is permanent Standard Time.”

Daylight Saving Time was created by lobbyists for golf and shopping. The majority of Americans oppose it, and the plurality support permanent Standard Time (not permanent DST).

“Permanent Daylight Saving Time would be more costly depending on where you are in the time zone. For the western edge of the time zone, the costs of reduced sunlight in the mornings are much more significant.” —Tyler Kleppe PhD to Congress, November 20

Ratio 1,300 to 88 likes! But ratios don’t make laws. 👉 Call the Congress switchboard anytime at 202-224-3121, ask for offices of Rep Russell Fry, Rep Gus Bilirakis, and the rep for your zip code, tell them to oppose permanent DST “Sunshine Protection”, and to restore permanent Standard Time instead!

Permanent DST threatens public health, public safety, and the ability to broadcast radio signals. Permanent Standard Time instead is the only workable way to ditch the switch!

The myth that “DST helps farmers” was invented by lobbyists for evening shopping. Farmers are more benefitted by permanent Standard Time, the clock set more closely to the sun!

“Permanent Standard Time is better for cognitive function. Being on Daylight Saving Time permanently could lead to absenteeism, salaries and wages lower, and less disposable income.” —Tyler Kleppe PhD to Congress on November 20.

Permanent DST would darken most states’ mornings past 8am for 3+ months, past 8:45am for 1+ weeks. Schoolchildren, outdoor workers, service personnel, and commuters need Standard Time’s morning sunlight most.
November 24, 2025 at 1:19 AM
Daylight Saving Time is the reason kids go to school in the dark. Permanent Standard Time would keep sunrise before 8am year-round in nearly all states.
November 23, 2025 at 8:42 PM
Permanent DST would put most states’ sunrise past 8am for 3+ months, past 8:45am 1+ weeks. It costs lives and business when trialed. Permanent Standard Time keeps mornings naturally sunlit, and it lasts decades when tried.
November 23, 2025 at 6:33 PM
“Sunrise/set depend on longitude, latitude, altitude, location in time zone… It takes one hour for sunlight to move 15°… The further west you live in your time zone, the later sunrise will be… Northern locations experience greater variations in length of days than locations closer to the equator…”
November 23, 2025 at 6:28 PM
🎵 “We need to abolish DST. Keep Standard Time! It’s a practice so harmful and obsolete. Keep Standard Time! No more debating. Keep Standard Time!” 🎶

Yes to permanent Standard Time for public health! No to permanent DST “Sunshine Protection”!

Who does Daylight Saving Time—and why?
November 23, 2025 at 12:51 AM
“Golf course owners want permanent DST… But circadian disruptions tied to it could have serious downsides for health and economy. Permanent Standard Time is better for cognitive function.”
November 22, 2025 at 8:35 PM
Lack of morning light is the top contributor to SAD. DST makes SAD worse.
November 21, 2025 at 11:45 PM
Most Americans wake by 6:30am and start school or work by 8am. Morning is when sunlight is biologically most necessary for mood, health, safety, and performance.
November 21, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Big Golf seeks to extend DST to make more money. We seek permanent Standard Time for better health, safety, and prosperity!
November 21, 2025 at 8:10 PM
Permanent DST costs lives when tried. It puts most states’ sunrise past 8am for 3+ months, past 8:45am 1+ weeks. Say NO to Big Golf! Prioritize natural health and safety, restore permanent Standard Time, the clock set to the sun! #DitchDST
November 21, 2025 at 7:38 PM
Sunlight at 5:30am in summer means sunlight when most Americans wake by 6:30am for work or school.

And anything is better than darkness until 8:30am in winter, as permanent DST would create.
November 20, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Permanent DST cost lives of children, and disrupted morning businesses, in Florida and other states, when last implemented in 1974. History and science prove permanent Standard Time (set to the sun) is naturally best for safety and economy!
November 20, 2025 at 6:54 PM
🚨 @repdarrensoto.bsky.social (D-FL) re-sponsors permanent DST “Sunshine Protection”. Would put Orlando sunrise past 8am nearly 3 months, to 8:20am! Cost FL kids’ lives in 1974! 👉 Amend to permanent Standard Time to protect morning light and safety!

DST does not save energy. “Arizona would consume more energy if it implemented Daylight Saving Time.” #DitchDST!
November 19, 2025 at 5:29 PM
Tables were published in newspapers across the United States to list how many minutes to adjust clocks in each city away from local solar time to the nearest meridian of “Standard Time”.
