A #painting. "Phoenix Park Deer" I painted because one of the places I've walked most in life is across the centre of the Fifteen Acres in the Phoenix Park. This was on the go for almost 10 years before I was happy with it it - and then I was very happy with it. #art #SpeirGhorm #ArtAdventCalendar

Almond butter sugar cookies. Our gift to ourselves. Wish we could share with you all. Feliz Navidad from Deming New Mexico
A small sample of butter sugar cookies were made this evening. I made the cookie-cutter flowers (?) and John made Spritz wreath cookies with a cookie press he found at the thrift store. We flavored them with vanilla and almond. Tomorrow we’re going to try orange and lemon while the turkey cooks in the smoker.

Photo taken with my phone at Rock Hound State Park Deming NM during the Festival of the Farolitas (aka luminaries). More than 1,000 paper sacks, filled with sand and holding a small lit candle, line the pathways, crown the adobe walls and arches and illuminate the desert. This is a photo of the tower on the left half of the screen with one dark window in the upper third. The background is the craggy Florí’das range with Venus rising in the west. The golden glow of the farolitos begs you to follow their light along the parks desert paths. Magical!

Dark blue, grey, teal storm clouds over crisped golden pasture grasses and fading green mesquite shrubs. Immediate center of shot is a prism of color beginning with violet at the horizon and graduating up and right through blue, teal, green, yellow, tangerine and red. There is a little oriole on the ground (bottom right edge of left vertical third) but he looked like a speck - perhaps mesmerized by the carnival of colors.

To your left, a not too old pair of binoculars I was using to watch a hawk on my pasture fence. Both are on the hallway counter waiting for me to leave for a Veterans Day Observance event. After which I will need to sign up (for the first time in fifty years) for food assistance at our local Veterans Aid Center in Deming New Mexico.

Listening to the complete series,in order,of these cozies. Nathaniel Parker does a livery job narrating. Characters are fun and the stories are entertaining while I do my autumn baking binge prepping for holidays.

The shadow on the left is of a planter of succulents on the inside sill. The shadow on the right is a newly planted apple sapling out of doors. The two plant shadows are separated by the structural shadow shape of the porch column.

Now that cataract surgery complications are cleared up, I’m finally reading again. Starting The Stations of Still Creek by Barbara J Scot; finally able to finish A Song For The River by Philip Connors (about his time as a fire watcher in the Gila Nat’l Forest 50 mi. from my home in New Mexico (2/2)
