There's a lot of good worldbuilding dripped across it all in kernels though, it gets pretty freaky at times, and I think some of the people who love it despite its flaws (vs ignoring them) stay for the mythos

In terms of writing quality, the first book is the worst of them, just assessing prose alone. The fetishistic gender dynamics and misogyny that the whole thing is steeped in never leave though. That's part of why the show being cancelled sucked, it did a lot to address that.

I feel like every working archivist could successfully get on TikTok and show off how bizarre the work is easily, the hard part is that the work is bizarre because someone, at some point, be they ex coworker or donor, organized things BADLY
