What is the impact of pulsing a RF glow discharge lamp on emission yield (EY) and analytical figures of merit in GD-OES? The EY in RF GD-OES are not very much affected by pulsing the RF source at constant set power - constant voltage. This means that quantification of CDP ddata does not require a separate calibration for each setting of pulse parameters. For "high-current" pulsing, it was shown that for several analytical lines the Signal/Background, S/N and precision can be improved by source conditions with high effective current in the pulses. For CDP applications "high current" pulsing can be used without significant loss of depth resolution. This indicates that detection limits and precision in CDP applications can be improved by appropriate use of source pulsing
