Unexpectedly came across this fascinating book by @sebdobson.bsky.social and Sabine Arqué in my local book shop today, got it immediately and have been having a grand time with it so far! It's an absolute unit of a book and jam packed with not only great photos but also intruguing histories!

In other news, I was extremely happy about having received my first ever (and hopefully not last) parcels from Japan earlier this week! Receiving post from around the globe felt more special than I anticipated. It also means, that I am now a member of the OAG, the German East Asia Society.

First time presenting at a conference was such a joy!
Thanks for everyone at #GermanHistSoc2024 for creating such a welcoming, supportive and productive environment! I met so many pleasant academics today.

Also, @mavikiu.bsky.social and I attending this conference even received a news post by the University of Erfurt! #GermanHistSoc2024

Good morning Manchester,
super excited to be here! Can't wait to explore the city (& finish my talk) and meet all the amazing people when this year's annual conference of the German History Society starts later today! #GermanHistSoc2024

If you would have asked me 6 months ago, I would've never hoped for a CDU, BSW, SPD coalition to become a reality in Thuringia, but right now it almost seems pleasant.

A special treat of the Cherubini Society board meetings is this wonderful view over the roof tops of Berlin - apart from all the productive discussions of course!

Leipzig Central Station during a thunder storm was definitely not on my list of very cozy environments.

New Year, new completely ludicrous case of underpaying academics:
This time, the Stiftungs Preußischer Kulturbesitz (by far the largest German cultural heritage foundation, mind you) offering roughly 13€/h for people with a master's degree in musicology with a current minimum wage of 12,48€/h.

Only 30mins left until our train reaches Erfurt again. While it was a nice vacation (although as always too short) I look forward to being back again. I will certainly miss having Kaiserschmarrn on an Almhütten though!
