Had the same level of excitement of authors in their book unboxing videos, except mine was this beautiful issue of Grain. Love the journey through the covers for the 200th issue!

If you run a literary magazine, please open a special submission call for Iranian writers in diaspora. We don't have time. #writingcommunity Poem by me, photo by my mother.

If you run a literary magazine, I want to urge you to open a submission call for those living in Iran, as well as Iranians in and outside of U.S. If you are considering it but you are short on staff, I will be your volunteer reader for one month. #writingcommunity spread the word!

Poster time! It was such a joy to collaborate with Mahour Arbabian on Argento’s Waterbird talk. I am so excited to see this whimsical world come to life on stage soon.

#AWP24 book haul!
February 12, 2024 at 1:27 AM
For so long I felt like this poem by Emily Lee Luan. Though I’m not even born here which makes me feel I have even less right to feel midair and displaced. Coming across people at AWP who also felt this way and were trying to capture it, made me feel much less lonely.
Check out the book: Return

What’s your #AWP24 list?

Write a story about a tiny gesture. It could be an act of kindness, a tiny quirk in a character, a tiny thing they notice in a person or place, etc. #randomprompt #writingprompt #writingcommunity

Makes me happy to see an Iranian-Afghan writer and an Iranian translator on this list. Congratulations to Aliyeh Ataei and Siavash Saadlou.

Celebrating the first day of fall with new tastes: Za’atar and Kuri. How are the seasons or months organized (visually) in your brain?

For me, it’ll always be the Jalali calendar -used it in Iran too. A 4x3 square starting with March.

We didn’t have our phones on us to take a photo of a cocoon,a tiny frog or that one bright red leaf up on a tree which we realized had fallen from a different one,or the bat which was just hanging out upside down on a brick wall. But they were all worth gathering somewhere.

I watched a seed (like the one in the photo) fall from the sky in a way I’d never seen before (thwartly?) and my day is already magical.

Does anyone know what this seed is called?
