That's true of the tabloids. The Telegraph, to choose a specific example, has gone completely nuts over the last 25 years or so. In the 1980s it was right-leaning but serious.

It's worth noting, when mocking the ambiguity of some of these "policies" is that they were written by somebody who wants to make them look ridiculous. The actual manifesto makes it clear they mean the Police, Crime Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 which should absolutely be scrapped.
