The way I try to de-AI-ify my classes is that I emphasize at the beginning and throughout the semester that all we're doing is reading some interesting shit other humans have produced, talking about that shit, and writing about it. Humans have been benefitting from that process for centuries w/o AI.

Agree. I enjoyed a Wired article from a few weeks back making a similar point recalling the dot com bubble burst days.

Something peaceful in this @wired.com piece by @ftrain.bsky.social about what happens after AI bubble bursts. Nerds nerding out again in messiness of the aftermath. Reminder that the time after the dot com bust felt better in many ways than the fever dreams before it.

Yeah - Bracy’s great. I always enjoyed catching a bit of hang time with her back in the CfA days. I’ve been listening to the audiobook, and it’s great hearing it in her voice — even though it does leave me wanting the more colorful, extended version she might share at the bar!

Ignorant mechanical question - if I get Wired stories through my Apple News app subscription—- how much does that financially help vs doing something with @wired.com direct?

They really did nail this demo. Looks like Kevin Parker’s got a win on this one. Sold out, but I want one!
