I am a bit bummed because some of the books I tried to review were not reviewed anywhere—mostly these were books by very major poets. Obviously who cares if they’re not reviewed by me, but I think it’s pretty sad if there’s no discussion at all.

The last time I published a book, it was deep lockdown, and sending this one out into the world at the end of 2024 was also not ideal. Hopefully if I ever write a book again (in 45 years?), it will land at a calmer moment!

I think this is so true—there is so much pressure on people to say they are doing something unprecedented that it becomes very difficult to make the mental shift to figure out what makes someone a peer (esp if it’s your first book, and you’re thinking of a “peer” as someone more advanced, usually).
