We have also inherited another Society’s archive and a couple of our researchers have passed away recently so we are being given their archives as well! A cautionary note to any other local societies, archive as you go along, far easier than dealing with it like this!

If they are Linslade or Leighton let me know as the Linslade WW1 is on my site and our society has published 2 books about the wars, including those that served and died. If I don’t have the info I can easily find it!

It is so sad. Our current project is a Holy Well but the site has been metal detected for so many years. We had one person say that they had found hundreds of ampullae but had no idea where their own collection was! Thinks his wife sold it when they moved away. We haven’t found a single one ☹️

I was given a box of flint tools that a metal detectorist had collected over 30 years. Due to them not being ‘treasure’ there is no record of where they came from. He just kept adding to the box each time he found something he thought was interesting. I must post about them at some point!

I think consistency. Only State schools have to teach it, as with everything else. I do like Scotland’s way of doing it, not just schools but every household. The first time I saw their household bits was in a holiday cottage about 7 years ago. It was a fascinating read!

Good point he made. Just as well it has been in the curriculum for quite a number of years. It was interesting trying to teach Rule of Law and Parliament whilst BJ prorogued and walked all over the system. The comments from 10 & 11 year olds is now funny to look back on.
