so I appreciate that the current-running G1 retelling comic finally went, “wait, isn’t it really fucked-up how Elita-1 was left to lead a struggling cause on a dying planet for millennia?”. Unfortunately, both the comic & fandom demonize her for prioritizing her own home over a random-ass planet 🫠

As messed-up as it is that Optimus effectively ghosted his wife for 4 million years, she was more of the ep writer’s OC than anything, so she wasn’t intended to be a recurring character 😔

(Violence CW) DWJ might’ve been inspired by Nausicaa, except her turning point is when she kills soldiers invading her nation. Her mentor stops her kinda like OP did with Arcee, except it's to prevent conflict with the fantasy IDF, not to proselytize 💀 She then makes her OWN choice to not kill

DWJ’s art has had me reflecting on cozy game discourse (& its limits as critique)
he’s the first Western artist I’ve seen draw inspiration from Ghibli’s violence & body horror, but IMHO his engagement with its war themes isn't that much deeper than the cozy ga- *gets shot by multiple firing squads*

My first ever look at G1 Optimus was at age 7, when I walked in our living room to see my family watching him on his death bed. My dad remarked, “watch this, he’s gonna transform into a coffin!”. When he rusted into a desiccated corpse instead, I was utterly disgusted.
