Lockheed already has a pretty solid foot in the door on the CAF already. They do all the automatic targets on some of the bases. They don’t need anymore of a foothold.

It’s a win/ win in a way. We still build parts for the f35 and then building Jas 39 could open the door to build the global eye as well.

I agree there but we are invested in the F35 by the manufacturing of parts for it. Other than aircraft the CAF is fairly independent of American systems. In the army we used a combo of domestic and euro equipment. The navy is domestic and UK built. We still use a lot of US munitions though.

We will still be buying the F35 regardless. We have already agreed to 16 with the option of up to 88. I’d say we will most likely go with both options. Probabaly by 32 F35 and start building the Gripen. It wouldn’t be the first time we have a mixed fleet of aircraft.

This seems to be the procurement criteria for a lot of things. The LSVW and MPEV are a prime example of moving the goalposts till it scores.

Here’s the thing. Ukraine cannot “merely recognize territory”. It would require a constitution amendment. To do that a public refer Neil is required and there is no way it will pass a referendum to recognize anything as Russian.

They are in Latvia training troops and were part of operation Unifier the training and observation mission in Ukraine from 14-22
