Tailoring, by contrast, is seen as a low-status domestic task, generally reserved for junior members of the clan, with no real market for finished clothes.

The Chel are socially organised into clans and sub-clans, with most production and consumption of textiles happening within the local clan. Weaving of textiles is relatively high-status and is normally carried out by senior members of the clan. Fabrics are occasionally produced for market in cities

The Chel are traditionally pastoralists so historically goat wool was dominant. Since settling in the Sagra basin some 500 years ago a natural fibre akin to ramie has become the main source of fabrics. The čyotta, a culturally important garment, is normally made of finer undercoat, similar to mohair

Going back to etymology - a cognate verb zič ('to adopt, to take ownership') does exist, but its sort of a zombie. The original word became extinct, only surviving in zičwü and the formal legal term zičlik 'current owner/guardian'. The modern verb zič is a back-formation from this legal term.

wrgt the example, 'tatta' means the 'senior' parent, i.e. the parent whose clan the children reside with and is not strictly gendered. I went with 'mum' in the translation due to character limits.
Keris is a fermented milk drink, somewhat similar to Mongolian airbag, but made with fantasy goat milk
