RNZ is a cheerleader for the neolib consensus, I was done with Hipkiss when she seemed to take Winston Peter's criticism of the Fonterra brand sell off as a personal attack on her belief system. Told me all I needed to know about who the legacy media speak for these days.

Style is downstream of substance. Mamdani may share the same style demanded by the new politics of the social media as Trump, but the message and agenda is radically different from Trump's.

The key is democracy cannot tolerate authoritarianism. Defer to it even a little and you lose democracy. Does Mamdani promote authoritarian and racist policies? No. He opposes those things. Therefore your whole argument collapses into meaningless false equivalence.

Having Willis fronting the attack with her perennial cringy cousin at Xmas who can't handle her liquor act was a bad idea.

Goldsmith is the sort of self-appointed Auckland toff who cosplays at Ellerslie raceway in the morning suit and top hat he keeps in his wardrobe on the off chance he might one day achieve the summit of Epsom society by being invited to the royal enclosure at Ascot.

He was always a deranged and extremely violent outlaw who never going to be taken alive. He died in the sort squalid shoot out he was always going to die in. It is an enormous pity he seriously wounded a police officer and completely warped three children before society was rid of him.

Saturday morning went from required listening to the razor sharp polymath of Kim Hill to... Whatever it is now. OK, so replacing Kim Hill was alway going to be super hard, but it looks like no one even tried.

RNZ needs to fire everyone over fifty and employ a bunch of 20 something influencers, YouTubers, podcasters, and tik tokkers and see what they can do with the RNZ budget. The chummy circle jerk of appointing Gen and boomer insiders with track records of constant failure needs to end.

Also, it smells of a cultural knee-jerk from a passing generation of boomers who seem genuinely threatened by what Jean-Luc Mélenchon would characterise as Schwarbrick's youthful "taste for life" compared to their increasingly fearful and geriatric response to change.

Gary Stevenson observed on his YouTube channel the legacy media no longer set the political news agenda, the power is increasingly and decisively moving online. These bizarro NZME hit pieces are just the drowning gurgling of a past medium.

Basically if these voter suppression measures passed this delegitimises the govt, doubly so if it the current coalition and triple so if they only win by a whisker. In that scenario, opposition can rightfully become resistance conducted outside norms.

Also, how the hell would NZ First think this a good idea? Their new constituency of conspiracy theorist and paranoid crackers will be heavily impacted by this enrollment gerrymandering.

How many people enrolled in the voting period last election? It will be hundreds of thousands. This is appalling voter suppression. Of it goes through and returns a right wing coalition on a close result then everything is on the table for not opposition, but real resistance.

Not particularly flattering for Hipkins, downright humiliating for Luxon, Winston will be furious when he wakes from his nap, and Seymour will probably kick his cat to death out of annoyance.

You know, the silence of & failure of both major parties to do anything about the supermarket duopoly, when for six years the cost of living has been the number 1 concern of voters, represents a stupendous failure of liberal democracy and a huge triumph of late neoliberal rentier cronyism.

If enough people had pitched in instead of filming it they could have taken the Ice agents. However in America, the so called "home of the free" people are absolutely terrified of their own law enforcement to the point they behave more like people in an an occupied nation than anything else.
