Alt: a black and white gif of the fictional orphan Oliver Twist, raising an empty bowl. The words "Please Sir, may i have some more?" are visible below him.

Supposedly, only *supposedly*, mind you, if you go to a place often enough to be considered a regular, you may occasionally ask for your chips to be cooked more.
... I have yet to achieve this hallowed status.

It's funny that the c-suite (theoretically the level that requires input from specialists to make well-informed decisions) needs to be tricked - excuse me - 'socially engineered' into acknowledging specialists' input so they can make well-informed decisions.
It's not ha-ha funny, though.

Lead Engineer (on the phone): "Okay, so when will he be free to answer? Really? Ooookay, thanks."
[Hangs up phone]
LE: "Eh heh heh, hah hah HAH HAH HAH HYAH HAH HAAaaa.... We're not finishing that install this week. Take five, team."

When I interned in a med sized IT dept, the lead engineer used to cackle every time he had to postpone a fix because he needed (non-IT) management permission to make changes... like setting secure, non-default passwords.
Not quite a comforting laugh track, but it was a regular feature of our days.

Just FYI: I dunno if it's an issue inside the US, but recent email about the crowdfund is showing up for me with some sort of "content not viewable in your region" block.
Good luck hitting the stretch goals!

Kinda surprised there was no mention in this thread for the stovetop moka pot. Not quite espresso strength, but a consistent strong brew that's hella easy to hone in.

馬道 can be read as "umamichi", for "bridleway" (literally, "horse-path").
...or as "medō": "a packed-earth hallway between Shinden-zukuri style buildings, allowing horses to be led through as needed, later used as a another name for a long indoor corridor."
I did not pick the right reading.

a man with a chain around his neck is holding a sword and the words he chose are above him
Alt: A gif from Indiana Jones and Last Crusade, showing an aged knight from the Crusades, wearing armor and a cloak, sitting in a dimly lit room. Commenting on a person whose error has made him look first foolish and then dead, the knight dryly remarks "He chose poorly."
