Game 19: Resident Evil 4 (original)

A real upgrade from the ps1 era. The controls are a bit clunky, yes, but aiming feels so good. Despite being action-based, the game still maintains the spirit of the ps1 titles. I had no problems with protecting Ashley. The plot is so stupid, it’s funny.

Game 18: Densetsu no Starfy (GBA)

A very cutetsy game. A good one too. It’s a simple game like Kirby, but underwater. It provides a challenge to both new and veteran gamers.

After completing the game once, you have to beat it again with finding all treasures. I hate that.

Game 18: Godhand (PS2)

A hilarious beatemup that doesn't give a shit. It is a product of its time, though. It IS a hard beatemup that challenges the player. Combat is simple, but the controls are clunky. The roulette wheel powers are great.

This was peak. Udon perfectly understands and knows what they are doing.

Can we get more Megaman Zero @ianflynnbkc.bsky.social?

Game 17: Tekken Tag Tournament HD

I played this a bit when it was originally in Arcades. The team up mechanics are really slick. Arcade mode isn’t bullshit like T2. I love being able to pair Jun Kazama and Kazuya Mishima. I’ll consider picking this up on PS2 or PS3.

Game 16: Typing of the Dead (Arcade) (JP)

I’m counting this as a new game because playing the Japanese version is like a whole new game. I’m sure the game has a dumb sense of humor, given a few prompts made me laugh. I played it in Romaji, because I can’t use a japanese keyboard.

Game 15: Monster Hunter Wilds

The seemless transition to the hunting biomes is great. A true open world Monster Hunter game. The story is a welcome addition for those seeking more substance for Monster Hunter. A much sought after sequel to World that makes the game more accessible.

Game 14: King of Fighters NESTS collection (PS2)

This collection is okay. I am nit picking when pointing out some voice lines and sfx are either compressed or uncompressed, and that is strange. I do appreciate the choice of the og or arranged soundtrack.

Game 13: Kirby’s Adventure (NES)

A re-clear. It still amazes me how games like this were able to be made, given the NES limitations. The music and color palette limitations are very creative in making the game feel dream-like. The copy ability adds to replay value.

Game 12: Mario Kart World

The free roam mode leaves some things to be desired. I wish there was more focus on free roam than just stickers and outfits. That said, the Grand Prix and Knockout Tour modes are incredible by making this more of a road trip.

Game 11: King of Fighters Hear of Battle (GB)

For the time it was made, this pocket version of KOF96 was alright. It’s dated now and doesn’t compare to the og or KOF R2.

Music sounds great, though too short for some tracks like “Esaka?” Special moves are difficult to use.

This is a perfect illustration of how I felt about the music episode of Nadia The Secret of Blue Water. What the hell happened to the writing in this show?

Game 10: Jak and Daxter (PS3 HD)

This game is rough around the edges. The gameplay is simple like platformers of its era with a fantastic open world consisting of zero loading times. I can see why Japan loved the first game so much.

I wish Daxter could shut his yapper.

Game 9: Little Samson (FC version)

Some of the best graphics on the nes. Gameplay is solid with giving all characters use. The music is great although limited: the character you play as determines the stage bgm. It is not worth $2000 on NES or $300 for the Famicom copy.

Game 8: Xenoblade Chronicles DE

I love how the plot unfolds beyond something simple into something grander. While combat seems intimidating, it becomes easy once you learn positional and chain attacks. The remastered music is pleasing to the ears.

Game 6: Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties

This game is the most hilariously bad game and I’m glad it was preserved. If you want a textbook case of This Is How You Don’t Make Games, this is it: a powerpoint presentation of a dating sim with awful writing.
