The rest explores key findings of relevance to the current policy context for #KinshipCare in England - particularly the forthcoming Kinship Allowance Pilot and provisions included within the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill (e.g. kinship local offer, duty to offer FGDM etc).

In the report, we examine year-on-year trends around measures of health, loneliness, financial security, family stability and more for #KinshipFamilies in England and Wales. It's a real mixed picture - some positive signals but elsewhere significant continued challenges.

Here's one example...

Really lovely shout out from former children's minister David Johnston MP highlighting @kinshipcharity.bsky.social's #ValueOurLove campaigning tactics and the impact this had on MPs and colleagues in government.

Particularly pleased to see this clear conclusion which is crucial in the context of the govt's current reforms. The focus is welcome but they must get the *sequencing* right - that means enhancing support for all kinship families and arrangements *before* incentivising greater use of kinship care.

Let the people of The North know a) our @kinshipcharity.bsky.social frustrations with the government's changes to the adoption and special guardianship support fund #ASGSF and at the same time b) my undying love for @olafurarnalds.bsky.social.

This fault is endemic across the childen's voluntary sector. So many times I've heard campaigners (politely!) challenged by officials, parliamentarians or individuals from other charities/orgs but effectively conclude "if they don't agree with me then they clearly don't care about children as much".

Here's what the kinship care statutory guidance published in *October 2024* has to say about how the kinship local offer should signpost to therapeutic support!

It's a good job there's lots of other information here to include beyond just the ASGSF... oh wait.

Absolutely gorgeous day to be in Durham to speak with @durham-university.bsky.social Foundation Programme Social Sciences students about influencing social policy and crafting policy recommendations. Thanks for having me!

Had an incredible morning with #KinshipCarers who marched to the Treasury to call on the the government to invest in financial support for kinship families ahead of the Spending Review.

Thanks to all those MPs who came out to speak with kinship carers about why they were campaigning. #ValueOurLove

It was great to give evidence to the Education Committee this morning on the government's Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill and the impact we think this will have for #KinshipCare, and to support the Committee's ongoing children's social care inquiry.
