Got any tours lined up Kev? I am planning my holidays for 2026 and my kids are fans (I have you music on the car playlist). Would be nice to fit a show in if you are touring!

I do feel lucky to enjoy them growing up. I was just at a party with another dad (our 12yo sons play for the same football club) and we were both gushing about how we loved having so much time with them.

Soppy bastards we are!

My dad is lovely, but he wasn't around much when I was a kid. He was more like a fun uncle that I saw once in a while (he worked out of town during the week). I work from home and took the job because I wanted to spend lots of time with my boys. x

My copy of the film came with The Limey, with Terrence Stamp. Also a great film.

Sexy Beast is a good film. The way Ben Kinglsey said the line "You're a big man, but you're out of shape" - it sounded like a quote, but I couldn't place it at the time. It makes perfect sense that it was a quote from another film. (Now I think there must be more references).

Please don't do it again though Mike. Learning that you went from barstool to hospital was stressful for all of us!

I feel dumb for asking, but also happy that it is the case! Thank you!

He has particularly babyish features, so people think he is younger than he is. Big bro is handsome and cocky and a bit annoying, but I love them both and they don't mind a bear hug from their dad!

Oddly, the main reason I didn't smoke was that the school football/rugby coach would eject anyone caught smoking. I was serious about sports, so was religious in avoiding smoking. I did smoke a spliff at a party, but generally as clean as you could be as a teen!

Looking classy - did anyone have crazy outfits? I do like Lindors, they just taste good.
December 13, 2025 at 12:43 AM
Yes, absolutely brilliant. I would say that season 2 onwards have not aged - they are still so funny.
December 13, 2025 at 12:39 AM
But I wanna watch it now!

12 is independent, he goes to the cinema on the bus with his friends.

8 is still a wittle baby to me!
December 13, 2025 at 12:36 AM
The main issue I have is that I also have an 8yo, which means he has to watch the same things and he just throws a tantrum if he's not interested!
December 13, 2025 at 12:31 AM
*perfect - I have just come back from the local football club christmas party and although I am not too drunk, my hands think otherwise...

That was the perect summary when I first saw the first series. For context, I had seen the second series before it, so had more to compare it too.
December 13, 2025 at 12:26 AM
I agree - I watched all series when I was younger and I didn't like the "pathetic" Blackadder character, whereas in the other series, he was more formidable.

Having gone back, I see the comedy of the first series, but it does not match the other series.

That's the main problem we have. Never much snow, but rain or sleet freezes. We get black ice, which is probably the most dangerous thing, even if you are on foot, if you foot touches it you are breaking your pelvis!
December 13, 2025 at 12:18 AM
I would love to re-watch it all with someone. My eldest is 12, but I feel it is still a bit old for him?
December 13, 2025 at 12:17 AM
Yeah, German cars - great fun, but a bit sketchy on ice! I've got "snow" mode on the driving mode selector - does help a lot and also works on muddy fields.

"Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words “I have a cunning plan” marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?"

You know what - when I lived in Italy, I didn't smoke, but all of my colleagues did and our offices had nice balconies, they would spent a lot of time with a coffee and a ciggie talking about all sorts of things. I just did the coffee and talking part (and breathing fumes).
December 13, 2025 at 12:11 AM
That line was also in Sexy Beast (Ben Kingsley) was that a reference then?
December 13, 2025 at 12:09 AM
We get icy roads, which can be problematic, especially if you drive a Beemer(!). We have these little salt dispensers on the odd street corner to shovel salt onto your road (gritters only do main roads).
