Most people in Ethiopia are Christian and those who were starving to death (which inspired the song and fundraising effort) were much more worried about the starving than Christmas. It was written to rattle people with benign worries into action.

The rationalizations of the assassination of a human being are almost as horrifying as the act itself.

They are both wretched murderers and neither are heros.

I totally agree with you and fervently wish that we had a single-payer system at least available, even if some folks chose to stay with for-profit insurers. But this is a far different discussion than essentially condoning the murder of a CEO who works in the system that currently exists.

Or, perhaps, he selected insurance coverage based on the lowest premium cost rather than the quality of the coverage. From what I heard, he had surgery for his relatively recent back problem. What was he denied? Why are his choices not part of the conversation?

So, you are very interested in why school shooters engage in their atrocities? Your statement above seems to condone the behavior as some inevitable consequence of for-profit healthcare. I think finding excuses for evil behavior goes too far toward normalizing it.

How about he was just a murderous sociopath who hunted down a human being and assassinated him. Is why he fixated on that particular human being really all that relevant?

That's childishly simplistic. How much moral responsibility do you assign to the parents of those children who - at least in some cases - chose lower premiums over quality coverage because bad things happen to other people? I hate insurance companies but...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the real "far left" is often bigoted and racist, too. They just present with paternalistic platitudes or other soft lines of otherisms instead of clear epithets.
December 11, 2024 at 12:51 AM
That is not what I call "far left" at all.
December 11, 2024 at 12:46 AM
This is not a new problem. There are just many more people covered now. As much as I despise the bean-counters making life and death decisions, there is something to the point that the reason UHC covers (and denies) so many is because consumers choose their low coverage plans for lower premiums.
