No argument about that. The immunity doctrine shouldn’t exist. But since it does it’s worth observing that the current President asserted (and won) blanket immunity for his acts in office but now wants to prosecute his partners in government for theirs.

Let’s recall that SCOTUS invented Presidential immunity on a theory that if the President could be prosecuted for their actions in office they might be deterred from executing their duties.

Does the same logic not hold for Congress? Their duty is to oversee POTUS and wield impeachment if needed.
