Sigh. I think senators and reps know this -- or at least enough of them do -- but are so detached from the experiences of others that they don't see this as life-altering.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've heard similar personal stories. As much as $3,000 a month for a pretty flimsy policy. Forgoing insurance or going with a catastrophic plan that covers much, much less is risky. One health crisis away from bankruptcy.

I disagree, having also thought it through. Both parties are abandoning millions of people to policies they simply cannot afford. If you have coverage, easy to cut them loose. If you're one of those people, not so much.

I disagree that hikes were going to happen no matter what. In addition to increase premiums, as the column explains, they're removing broad swaths of people from ACA who will be left no affordable option. $3,000 a month premium sound good to you?
