Anyone below or hovering around the poverty line who rents privately urgently needs #LHA to be unfrozen but it wasn’t mentioned today. A huge disappointment when so many already have a rent gap to cover. I can only surmise they intend to leave it frozen for another year.

I’ve read through the entire budget document and there’s no mention of it. I can only presume that means it’s frozen once more. They mention the increase in rent in the private sector and the hope that the renter’s rights bill will help. Cop out.

Thanks. Very helpful.

I’ve been hunting for any mention of it too but haven’t found anything yet. I agree it’s absolutely critical.

I don’t want to have to use PIP for rent but LHA doesn’t come close to meeting rent in my area unless it’s social housing. There is no social housing for disabled people under 55 though. It’s farcical. When will the govt realise the impossible situation many are in?

The LHA gap is a nightmare. More so if you’re disabled and need a home that meets certain accessibility criteria. I already have a gap of £300 pcm. This will only increase if they freeze LHA for another year. They say PIP shouldn’t be used to pay rent but how else do they expect us to stay housed? 🧵

It has nothing to do with what his detractors say. It’s about Starmer’s own actions and the choices he makes. I too wanted him to succeed and had high hopes. I agree that MSM don’t celebrate Labour’s achievements well, but the fact is bad decisions are being made that impact vulnerable people.
