I am a sheep. Also a Quaker.

I like puns, politics and permaculture, not necessarily in that order.

I love music. Laurie Anderson and The Sisters of Mercy are at the apex.

A word on immigration. Don't prejudge this, just listen to the data, and then consider what the solution is.

The UK has a falling birth rate. This means that - unless things change - each generation will be 25% smaller than the one before.

A fine selection of songs from throughout Laurie Anderson's career.
'The real brilliance here lies in how Earhart’s accounts blur with Anderson’s own voice, reflections and memories. Amelia is a poignant, moving reflection on what our heroes reveal about ourselves'

"We treat the future like a distant colonial outpost devoid of people, where we can freely dump ecological degradation, technological risk, nuclear waste and public debt" - Roman Krznaric

The future has no voice.

We have an unhealthy relationship with time. We live in a present that is both contrived & confined. We vacation in a fictional past & we talk about the future but we don't go there.

When #COVID19 was in the future, the nearest of futures, we didn't see it, not really, not enough to decisively act.

A viciously funny demolition of Musk and the platform be bastardised in his own image. To be on X is to inhale his rancid fumes
I briefly put principles and values aside to make a saltier, crankier case for leaving X: Elon Musk is uniquely insufferable holapapi.substack.com/p/x-out

Can we respond to climate breakdown in time?
Can we transition to a much fairer economic system?
Can we change from hard security to human security?
Behind all of this are three core elements that turn these challenges into an immediate triple crisis.

We need to expose the abundance that exists in our highly unequal world. Musk is an amazing target because he got so rich hoarding the benefits of the green transition.

Baku at night. It's a bit like Glasgow -steep hills, big drops from pavement to road, and massive triple lane carriageways right through the middle
