You're empowering one group at the cost of many more, in one of the worst thought out brainfarts since AUKUS.

You've also meant that accounts that are not associated with a person, or official group, may get dinged and have absolutely NO WAY of verifying their account, meaning this may directly affect adults who are happy enough to share their identity with firms who are likely to leak it.

Finally - no protections you can introduce are safe, kids will find a way past it, in fact, because adults may get caught up in this, ADULTS will have to find a way past it. That knowledge will spread - I will be shocked if bypasses aren't common knowledge before the end of the year.

I've said it elsewhere, but I'll say it here too - you are going to isolate children, you care going to force children to darker parts of the internet you cannot control, and you are going to lose children. Again: YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE CHILDREN. You don't even have the backbone to acknowledge this.

It's telling that the advertising for this is basically "Ha ha kids, we're taking your fun away" with no support for the third space you're taking away, or the social connections they have.

Some half-baked brain worm from Peter Malinauskas, and suddenly slap a ban on the Internet rather than actually police the content of the websites involved. No visible consultancy from information security or social care workers, just a bunch or parents who can't look after their children was enough
November 17, 2025 at 2:38 AM
Unplanned populist nonsense, to give parents a false sense of safety whilst making the problem worse. How id Labor so consistently terrible at online policy? This isn't the first time you've brought half baked policy forwards, last time it was the Stephen Conroy nonsense, and now this.
November 17, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Yeah, this is going to isolate so many kids from their support networks, particularly in rural areas.
November 17, 2025 at 1:32 AM
Anything but actually police the content. We know this is about stopping children finding out how terrible a job Labor has been doing on issues like Israel, and housing affordability, and cost of living. We don't want your FOI restrictions either, what are you doing that needs hiding?
November 17, 2025 at 1:14 AM
It won't work. You'll isolate children. You'll push children to spaces you can't police. You'll lose children.

Social welfare doesn't want this. InfoSec keeps telling you won't work. But at least you can lie to parents and make them feel safe when they're worse off than they are now.

The irony of posting this late isn't lost.

Dr Who's special effects budget has really snapped back with the Disney withdrawal.

Well, if you're out of service - how about new brainrot - www.friendlyatheist.com/p/the-christ...

And, yes, there's apparently clips on the YT.
The Christian Right tried to make a late-night talk show—and it bombed spectacularly
Eric Metaxas and his backers spent hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to copy Fallon and Kimmel. They forgot to hire talent.

On this question I'd lie.

Especially where it has nothing to do with the work.
