Not sure about the second part, but someone taught me there is usually a hex shape on the bottom where you can manually reverse it with an allen wrench. It's saved me a couple of times when things fell in and wedged.

It was interesting to hear them sneezing. We had seen some kudu barking like dogs at the sight of a lion earlier in the day. And there were some zebra nearby that seemed completely unbothered by the leopard.
