From The Magic in Our Bones 🦴😭

He doesn't have to point to my bed for me to know what he wants. When we were about ten, Nico was plagued by nightmares, and every night he would end up sleeping in my bed, just holding me like I was his security blanket... making the Peanuts pajamas he wore at the time apt (though Linus was only represented in miniature). Even though he doesn't sleep and can't have nightmares, I bet his brain is cycling through the day just like mine is, minus the Azura stuff. Though who knows what he and Mom had to deal with at the end of the Council meeting after I bailed? Bailing on them wasn't cool. Scooching over in bed is the least I can do. He lies down behind me and wraps his arms around my waist. It definitely feels different, just his humerus and radius around my middle, instead of his biceps and triceps. But it also feels normal. Just Nico, my brother, after a nightmare of a day. Then he buries his face into my back, while his body is wracked with inaudible sobs. The pit in my stomach that was already growing into quite a black hole after today, doubles in size at the feel of his convulsing body. I let him get it out of his SYSTEM; Nico always needs to cry it out before I try to calm him down.

My job’s somewhat flexible (not as flexible as my old job, but the people are better). IIRC, Friday was a day where it was more convenient to have me there that week anyway, so it was an easy sell.

I’m no good to them with my brain in the clouds.

I actually did this once. One Wednesday I was so consumed with my novel that I asked if I could work my day off later that week and take Wednesday off instead.

We do get to see every moment they have in-person together, sadly, because she doesn't survive the book. And, as of now, he doesn't know that fact (I left poor Noah hanging, sorry, dude)

Their first meeting consists of another cyborg using him as a hostage and choking him and her shooting past Noah's head and killing the other cyborg. Then they have many cute blushing moments while she's helping them all escape.
