I’m so excited to share with you my Perihelion Shawl at last! The pattern is 20% off through 9 December and is available on Ravelry and Payhip!

Day 2 progress on the Advent shawl with kettle dyed yarn by my LYS. I was excited when I picked up the kit, then grew nervous the coloring might be all red and green. Why'd I ever doubt their ability to put together a beautiful palette. Those purples! ❤️ Can't wait for the next mini skein. 🧶 #knitsky

Currently on the needles, a Gardens of Giverny shawl with locally dyed yarn by my amazing LYS. Just finished the 13th lace repeat with 3 more to go. I can't wait to see how this squishy cashmere blend blocks out. I'm hoping to finish soon so I can focus on my Advent shawl, also by LYS. 😁 #knitsky 🧶

Brioche hat complete with ends woven. I don't feel like blocking anything yet. Restarted a cotton washcloth early this morning while the house slept cause I can't count with the kiddos are running around. The circular cast on is so satisfying! #knitsky 🧶

Trying out socks on shorties, reminding me of the pair of sock needles my great grandmother owned which were connected by a small metal spring. It takes some getting used to, though I prefer the constant flow compared to double points or magic loop. 🧶#knitsky

Pausing all holiday gift knits to start a pair of socks for me. Yarn is by string theory colorworks. #knitsky 🧶

My second shawl is washed, blocked, and dried. I am amazed at how squishy, soft, and drapey the fabric is after blocking. The photo doesn't even begin to capture the vibrant hot pink 🩷🧶 #knitsky

Now we just need some cold weather. ❄️🌨️

On to the next project!

I'm splashing headfirst into assigned pooling yarn! This pattern is the perfect amount of simple and fun to work while listening to a podcast or audiobook. "Do the fun stitch when you hit the contrast color" is so delightful and makes the project fly. Can't wait to see how this blocks out. 🧶

Finished knitting the front of my sweater today. Winding up yarn to start the back has been more meditative than the cabling. The cumulous yarn is so fluffy, and it tugs at something nostalgic I can't quite name.

I'm pretty sure this is going to be too short, but we'll see what blocking can do!

The heel turn is fast approaching. The slow color change is fun to watch unfold. #knitsky 🧶

The tiny human is happy with the sequins and the color. That is all that matters.

I can't wait to knit these again in the galaxy color I picked for myself, sans sequins. 🧶

Latest yarn haul. I'm so excited to knit these into socks and mittens! 🧶

Please help. The tiny human picked out sequin yarn (top right), and I don't want to use it. Any suggestions on how to work it in as an embellishment while minimizing how much I have to touch it? #knitsky

New socks on the needles. This picture doesn't do the depth of color justice. The yarn is a wool-cotton blend, and it is so smooth to knit. 🧶 #showmeyourknits #wip #knitsky

Does anyone else struggle to practice mindfulness while knitting instead of speeding along at a frantic pace?

I hear blocking is magic. Does anyone know if it will untwist the stitches at the toe or close the holes along the heel? Exactly how much magic are we talking? ✨🧶

I plan on making a swatch as part of a sock gift kit so the owner can send it through the wash as a test. #knit

It took me a second pair to figure out but the watercolor sock yarn by Laines Du Nord has a stretch of white in the middle to mark where to start the second one to make an identical pair. The more you know!

Today was a great day for D&D and sock knitting. RIP Sim. 🧶

I tried a German short row heel this time. I love the shape. Are the stitches along the gusset supposed to be raised up like this, or am I twisting stitches?

I'm addicted to socks cause they're so quick and portable. 🧶 🧦

Blocked and drying.

I think I'm giving this one to the tiny human and making a second one for myself. I'm sad it is complete because this pattern was so much fun to knit!

Thanks @joansgarden.bsky.social for a beautiful pattern for my first fair isle project. 🧶🌼🐝

Smaller needles obtained and honeycomb stitch is taking shape. Hubby insists he sees an Eldritch horror in the cone flower. 🌼🦹🦑

I just realized this is my first fair isle project AND my first knit hat. All previous hats have been crocheted. I think everyone is getting a knit hat for Xmas. 🧶

Stranded work is done! Next, I need to go buy smaller circular needles cause of course I grabbed smaller double points and not the circs I needed. I can't wait to see how the honeycomb looks! 🧶🐝🌼 #showmeyourknits

Such a delightful project to knit, though I still can't count. 🧶 The bees and flowers are starting to take shape.

I hope I'm keeping the right amount of tension in my floats. #showmeyourknits

Dungeons and dragons with my first fair isle project. I have never been so painfully aware of how bad I am at counting, but I love the way the colors play together. #showmeyourknits 🧶

I'm following the rules and swatching instead of diving in and figuring it out on the fly. This yarn is so good it's scratching a part of my brain deep in the brain that I didn't know was itchy. 🧶

These socks are wonderfully soft and squishy. I even wove in the ends at the cuff, so I'm pretty sure that means they're officially done done. I may or may not still need to settle ends at the toes 🧶😁
March 21, 2025 at 4:31 AM
What better way to finish the day than by turning the heel of a sock? The end is near!

Better still, this means I may get to go yarn shopping this weekend for my first fair isle project! 🧶 I can't wait. Still debating the color palette I want to work with. Blues and pinks? Greys and rainbow?
