She does take a stimulant, and there may be a time when she needs something more, but OT helped her develop coping skills that have hopefully set her up to not self destruct part of the way through college, like I did! I used coffee for focus and A LOT of alcohol to cope socially and emotionally.

In my experience of the parent of a kid with ADHD, our insurer didn't offer non-medication therapies like Occupational Therapy just for the ADHD. She finally also got an ASD dx, and THEN they offered OT. OT worked with her on emotional regulation and ex function, and that made a huge difference.
