Already so many great suggestions! What about occupations like a chef’s hat or a construction hard hat? Or silly novelty seasonal hats like the Thanksgiving turkey hat, Santa hat, bunny ears, witch’s hat. I see no reason one couldn’t get silly and expand to vampire capes haha

Lumping them together as “AI” gives readers the impression that a single class of tool is discerning novel protein structures, teasing subtle patterns out of mountains of LHC data, writing a student’s History 101 paper, and arguing a ketamine-addled billionaire could post up Shaq in his prime. No.

As a fellow sloucher with neck/shoulder pain, I am sorry to report that the best thing I’ve found is daily walks followed by full body stretches. Especially stretches that work opposite the slouch (chest openers, bridges, etc). Keyboard would be way easier, so crossing fingers it helps you!

I’m seeing so much pressure from employers to those in comms/mktg roles to use gen ai to “improve efficiency.” I have no problem abstaining and telling my leadership why ai sucks if prodded on it. But not everyone can do that without retaliation. It’s dispiriting to say the least.

This level of voter engagement is heartening! I was raised in Kentucky and voter apathy was so common. Mostly because of stuff like this—too many politicians talking down to the people they were supposed to serve.

All of this, and also, I miss when the internet was a place you could visit and leave behind, not a constant, all-consuming part of reality.

I swear TERFs’ whole definition of womanhood is the oppression. And they are so shortsighted in their assessment of oppression that they constantly reassert the stereotypes of patriarchy. It’s like someone reading chapter 1 of feminism and not bothering with the rest of the book. It’s so maddening.

I’m just waiting for him to start selling the pieces of White House rubble for some inordinate price.

Speaking as an eldest daughter raised by teen parents: mmmhmmmm. That’s exactly it.

“Optimizing” toward nothing.

All of this admin’s attempts to erase queer, trans, neurodivergent, and disabled kids (+ other marginalized identities) make me so sad. I keep thinking that if someone can’t handle the possibility of who their child may become without trying to change them, then they aren’t ready to be a parent.

There’s obviously so much wrong with this, but the “chardonnay set in Boulder” line took me out.
