2/3: … sodden timbers, often awash at high tide. Pieces of shipwreck that appear along the shoreline often disappear after only a few days or weeks, buried in wet sand as the waves rebuild the beach.

Although the wreck was high & relatively dry, the Parks team included underwater archaeologists because of their expertise & experience with wrecked ships & #marinehistory. Detailed measurements, imagery, & samples were collected, & when done the wreck was reburied…

Now the only visible fragment on Sable Island is a sandblasted section of bulkhead among the small dunes on the Sandy Plain.
