How much does memory overclocking influence its performance?

For happy shareholders' pockets

Like I went from a full tower Chieftec to that mATX Lian-Li and now to a Thermaltake Core P3 without the side glass 🫣

Lol, I'm pretty much done with big cases. I never use all the space inside, and they look empty as a result 😆

I remember choosing between this and mATX version, and I'm glad I went with mATX 😆 it's only slightly bigger, but can fit seven HDDs and has decent cooling😀

Could still buy 44 ide cable(or borrowfrom some laptop), insert some wires into +5v and ground, clip probes and test

or this OCZ 120GB SSD that worked as a Windows system disk 24/7 for 8.5 years and still has 91% life left 😅

😅

I also only now noticed that it has 'free' extra 48 GB, like in olden times 😆

lol, my month old ssd has more writes 😅

You could probably try a POST card with power indicator LEDs for the +5V, +12V and see if they dim with ISA inserted, not sure though if it would work simultaneously and if you could even fit both 🤔
November 11, 2025 at 3:45 PM
It has an external 12V only PSU, so 5V is generated somewhere locally

Yeah, after the magic smoke escaped, there could definitely be something wrong with it 😬
November 11, 2025 at 10:22 AM
Then maybe +5V is generated somewhere on the mainboard and the conveter is simply can't power both? (bad caps or wasn't designed for such load) 🤔
November 11, 2025 at 10:11 AM
Ah, so it boots, but not when ISA installed? 🤔
November 11, 2025 at 10:07 AM
I meant the 44-pin IDE, where the 4 pins are for power(+5V). Are you sure they are going into the corresponding holes on the port?
November 11, 2025 at 9:58 AM
and I presume both the adapter and port are keyed and can't be inserted incorrectly?
November 11, 2025 at 8:48 AM
And I think it fried your previous CF adapter?
November 11, 2025 at 8:35 AM
How is the card powered? There could be a short somewhere, and what you're hearing is some poor inductor 😅
