I definitely think the characters in both could case confusion with possible variations in meaning!
I’m currently working on Mandarin so that I can spend some time in Taiwan someday, but whenever I see written Japanese, I can’t help but want to learn a little bit!

I appreciate your perspective, and that makes a lot of sense! I was assuming the crossover between grammar would be minimal, but maybe the characters would be easier to grasp?

That’s fair, the whole issue right now is just getting people to agree on a permanent place 😅 Just a lot of frustration I think.
