It's going to be really fun seeing the HBO special in a few decades where I'm depicted as someone using "I didn't know" as a flimsy defense for being ignorant of everything going on around me because everyone will think that everyone in this country simultaneously knew about and supported it.

Nobody wants to owe you anything and they will resent the enforcement of any social contract that requires that they provide you with anything that is not on their terms. Your closest friends and family will turn on you in an instant when you stop providing them with emotional fulfillment.

Something I've realized I'm absolutely cursed with in social spaces is a desire to talk about heavily politicized things from apolitical angles and realizing that I can't talk to anyone about it because they really, really want to make it political.
