Data-driven decarbonization at @electricitymaps.com
Almost certainly that guy you know from the internet.
There are 20 data centers between my house and the grocery store.
Posting through it since Prodigy and Procomm Plus.
Left of the dial.
Oh, ewe.

Like, as much as I have been a “pick your starting 11 and formation and stick with it” guy, this could easily be a World Cup where we have a stacked bench and Poch can be more creative with who he plays based on the opposition.

They’re not really trying. Maduro might feel hurt that he’s not getting any attention?

ugh this is how I found out he is mentioned

In my thankfully limited experience, surgeons know everything and everyone else is just guessing? //nervously scratches at scars//

Hoo boy, hope you're well! MRI is no joke -- I can still picture the room and hear that thing like 16 years after the fact.

Related: Is there anything more joyful than competent medical lab techs dissing other (unseen) medical lab techs? Like, they made me feel my own vein to observe how huge and obvious it is and how did that other person miss it?

It us: We routinely do this sort of thing. Our rule is to boil the thawed broth for something like 10 mins before using it, but idk if that is necessary. I usually brown protein, take it out of the pot, sauté veggies, add the meat, season along the way, add the broth and everything simmers together.

Sure! I think Loudoun and the data center developers could do a better job of reminding folks how much we’re already squeezing — and spending it on electrification and decarbonization.

Lots of efforts right now to turn EVs, rooftop solar, batteries, heat pumps, newfangled stoves, etc. into flexible resources to… leave more power available for data centers, if they pay for it.

That sounds lovely, but I’d make the case that tax-collecting municipalities already have their money.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot in the context of “community impact” conversations where data center developers are encouraged to, sure, sponsor youth sports teams, but also, to get involved in plans like this one to bundle household electrification as flex: blog.wattcarbon.com/p/repowering...

“38% of the county’s general fund” came up in a few local stories this year, like this one where there was a thought to reduce revenue because we couldn’t figure out what to spend it on. (Schools and teachers would be fine, thanks.) www.loudounnow.com/news/county-...
County Staff to Push for Lower Data Center Taxes to Balance Revenues
The Loudoun County financial management staff will make a strong push to roll back taxes on data centers next year, saying the cuts are critical to rein in the growth
