On this day sixteen years ago I got my letter of offer from the University of Saskatchewan for my faculty position and my life changed dramatically in all kinds of ways. Best professional decision of my life. I wouldn't say its always been easy, but the cold never bothered me anyway.

As a Sask resident I find this immensely in good humor and did indeed LOL.

I've been uploading species occurrences into iNaturalist for a few years now with a primary focus on the Hudson Bay coastal area in Manitoba.

If you have some free time I would appreciate your help confirming species identifications- plants, mammals, bugs, all kinds of fun stuff.

17 years ago we were about to have a baby. Now all we have are stinky teenagers that give us endless joy.

Becoming a dad was the best thing I ever did in my life.

Subway should really be offering an anti-ice 'throwing sandwich' at this point, made of nothing but onions and mustard.

Remember nine years ago today when life was simple and I thought things were bad in the United States?

Budget drop confirms $180 million over the next five years to continue strengthening the Hudson Bay Railway and diversifying operations at the Port of Churchill.

Hopefully this puts to rest the absolute nonsense around considering Port Nelson as another option, even though we know it is a scam.

Building a railroad through the largest wetland in North America was no small feat and met with some significant challenges getting all the way from The Pas to Churchill, Manitoba.

This engine derailed on the soft muskeg ground about 1925.

Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in Saskatchewan.

CWD is arguably the greatest wildlife management failure in North America. Top ten for sure.

Had a fun time talking about wildlife-human conflicts and urban wildlife. Got sidetracked telling some polar bear stories but it went really well.

Thanks SASK SPCA

How can a fly somehow squeeze through a tiny tiny space to get in the house but then can't exit out the giant open patio door that is a thousand times larger?

We thought the idea of a dog-moose hybrid was good at the time, but she can’t decide whether to fetch sticks or eat them.

This year on my arctic field course I tried making a bunch of different teas using what we had on hand:

1. labrador tea
2. fireweed tea
3. blueberry/bearberry tea
4. Hudson Fog- cheap rip off from the classic London Fog but with earl grey, hot chocolate, cream, hint of labrador tea plant
