Well, your suspicions are indicative of your poor reading comprehension. The article you posted is about carbon OFFSETTING. It's one thing to CAPTURE CARBON and STORE it; it's quite another to then use said CAPTURED and STORED CARBON for the purposes of OFFSETTING emissions elsewhere. Understand?

Carbon Capture and Storage is not the same as using CCS for carbon offsetting

At this scale it basically makes zero difference. Though fusion is still way more experimental than CCS.

That's precisely what I read.

Yes, not saying it’s easy, or even a good idea. Just that one of a key proposed “benefits” is not requiring fresh water as coolant

No this doesn't include forest fire Carbon emissions

(Thanks, yes @pfriedling.bsky.social also shared. Makes much more sense now! But, just as a friendly reader response criticism, the caption in your figure could probably better explain that this is a counterfactual/relative analysis. i.e. sinks are actually in net terms still growing, on average).

Aha! That definitely explains it. Thanks!

So, is it correct to interpret he first two as "how much more or less CO2 the ocean and land sinks sequestered each year as a result of climate change"?

@eroston.bsky.social, can you explain what these charts are intended to show? In terms of the 'Atmosphere' chart... an 8.34ppm increase in 2023?! What am I looking at?
