Lately I've been thinking about how two 90's era sci-fi properties (The Matrix and Star Trek: Voyager) made the point that the turn of the century was "peak" human civilization, in some ways.

Just once I'd like to see a judge that has a case involving "religious freedom" demand proof of god's existence and its possible retribution if the case is not adjudicated in favour of the religious freedom side.
