well it would simplify things if I could write a web page with my bio, then Wikipedia could use it as a reference but that's effectively the same thing as letting someone edit their own page and I understand why Wikipedia doesn't allow that.

But for most people there's no independent way to bio.

I understand the reasons for Wikipedia‘s policies but it is weird that someone‘s biography is unusable as a source.

I need to sit down and make a list of all the stuff I have done recently and see if I talked about my work pre 1999 on the record, and think about what might be in the Wayback Machine.
