(Don’t know if there’s a specific statute giving a civil cause of action, I mean…not my area of practice.)

We’ve had some absolute motherfuckers of civil lawsuits over revenge porn come out of Texas, too - just absolute life-destroying damage amounts in verdicts. Don’t know if we have a specific statute for revenge porn or if it’s just regular invasion of privacy type causes of action, though.

It’s fairly recent in Texas, at least - the last six or eight years, maybe? I feel like the scope of Is Anybody Up & the other similar revenge porn sites a decade or so ago woke up a bunch of states to take action.

I don’t take adult felony work, but the judge & prosecutors in the small central Texas county in which I’m on the juvenile appointment list absolutely look at it as a flavor of domestic violence crime.

And, if appealing to moral character doesn’t work, it’s also a felony in some states.

Does she know what “charismatic” means? Dershowitz is pretty much the opposite of that.

Is it just me, or does this feel like a strange and vaguely threatening William Carlos Williams poem?

It’s as if the worm piloting the RFK meat golem learned everything it knows about humans from watching Borat videos and old episodes of Jackass.

I read it when I was in high school in the late eighties, and my recollection is 1) that it’s not all that important to the plot, and 2) really just
comes out of fucking nowhere in the book. It was enough to sour me on King’s writing.

In his book about The Hacienda, Peter Hook several times mentions a Manchester restaurant named Little Red Courgette, and I’m not going to get over being jealous of whoever came up with that name.

Well, stuff about the DC pipe bomber has been in the news again lately. Maybe she’s afraid they’re getting close…

One of the ones that used to come through my backyard regularly used to peer in through the glass of the door like Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

This feels kind of like when there’s a criminal case with a pro se sovereign citizen, except that they’re the prosecutor this time.

Aaron Mahnke mentioned it in this week’s or last week’s episode of the Lore podcast, which is where I learned of it.

In less than 24 hours I have learned both about soap mummies and a 9,000-ish year old stone structure found under Lake Michigan a few years back.

I knew I was right to feel cheated when we rushed through the Great Lakes at the end of in my American maritime archaeology class in college.
