Alright, folks. I don’t do a whole lot of self-promotion but this warrants it, I think. Just won this award for my screenplay. I get a nifty cash award but also a grant for production and I get to attend an event where they’re doing a table read of the screenplay. Absolutely wild and awesome group

"While DETENTION draws heavily from Japanese video games — its alternating versions of the school mirror the mixed-realities approach favored by the SILENT HILL franchise — its horrors are heavily rooted in Taiwanese history." Don't forget: DETENTION is the high that SILENT HILL fans are chasing.
How ‘Detention’ Became Cinema’s Greatest Video Game Adaptation
Taiwanese horror film 'Detention' is, by any meaningful evaluation, quite easily the best video game adaptation of all time.

Targets (1968) is a weirdly prescient movie about mass shootings before the US got really into mass shootings.

It’s also about Boris Karloff.

Y’all, this current post holidays depression is hitting hard this year. Digging my way out seems really tough. Sorry to be a downer-just letting the one or two folks that read this know why I’m so quiet right now

Multi-faceted greatness, this is a top pic for holiday horror, slasher, and horror film. @donatobomb.bsky.social does a great job of appreciating this and the restoration. Not to mention all of the extras! Genuinely regretting getting the blu on sale and not waiting for this.
If you give me the chance to write about BLACK CHRISTMAS (1974), I'm going to take it.

In honor of the new Limited Edition 4K Steelbook from Scream Factory, I wrote about why Bob Clark's Christmas horror classic is still my favorite slasher film.
51 Years Later, The Perfect Christmas Slasher Just Got A Huge Upgrade
A new Blu-ray release of 'Black Christmas' in 4K proves that it still provides the perfect slasher template.

"Wildling women are wild and capable – they don’t need men to protect them, provide for them, or control them." One of my favorite things about working with @mollyhenery.bsky.social is that she really gets our niche of 2000s and 2010s horror criticism. So many movies in these decades need champions.

Decided to get the first run of about thirty NES games. Just to give myself a slightly larger challenge, they’re the early versions with five screws instead of three. It’s been fun so far!

My book, Fulci's Inferno, is the first major new writing on Lucio Fulci in years, and the first to fully analyse the themes across his work. It analyses his entire career, and includes over 50 photos.

This book took 8 years to research and write. I hope you're gonna love it.

So, so proud of @paulgandersman.bsky.social and @peterhallhuman.bsky.social for bringing MAN FINDS TAPE to theaters this winter. And great to see the trailer cut around @gholson.bsky.social's performance, which is one of the film's highlights. Give 'em hell, boys.
