Got it! Trump can sue via a USA court "friendly" to his "cause." And that way lies a lot of money to/from. The BBC can't afford it. Never thought I'd say this but tbf to Davie, seems like his resignation was principled as he put the corporation first?

They did. Last week's Panorama "Trump and Tech Giants" showed how much they're in each others pockets. And the threat they pose to UK. Appropriate time to show that programme I'd say. Maybe not a coincidence?

The real one that needs to go is Gibb. Have to give some kudos to Davie because it seems he was principled enough to go in order to save the BBC.

Exactly. And FWIW, all "independent" broadcasters on other Channels should think whether they too are going to be threatened. Thinking LBC in particular here.

Courtesy of opinion/propaganda on X maybe? No doubt in my mind UK has become a hostage to Tech Giants. Those unable to use critical thinking will jump onto a bandwagon.

But Russ, they just don't have the money to do that. They've cut regional radio services, and the cuts on TV are obvious. And sorry, but if you don't care about the BBC then how much do you care about the cultural heritage/future of the UK? ITV is being sold off now.

But you'd maybe pay for something on Netflix? If you can afford then fine. But there are plenty of people who can only afford Freeview, and licence fee is comparatively affordable.
