Officially moth-obsessed, also easily distracted by birds, butterflies, flies, wasps and spiders. Musically devoted to an (un)holy trinity of Bruce Springsteen, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen.
Thanks Dave, there are still quite a few moths in my wish-list so fingers crossed that a few of them make it my way in 2026.

A very attractive moth. Wasn’t on my radar at all but there is a lot of Oak round here.

Thanks Steve. Balsam Carpet has had a good year in VC38 with five records from ‘widely separated sites’ according to our CMR.

Everyone says emptying a moth trap is like Christmas morning so it makes sense!

😆 I might have to make a little adjustment there…

I am attached to it because the late Leonard Cohen used a hummingbird as one of his emblems & I bought it shortly after he died.

That’s a wonderful collection! I forgot to say that our tree also features a Hammerhead Shark!

Some lovely micros there, I especially like the bottom left one (so stripey!)

It’s interesting that though they seemed quite numerous in Sutton Park on that particular night in early July, they haven’t ever managed to make it to my garden 2 miles away, unlike a number of heathland specialists.
