understood, i have tried to switch multiple times, drivers and familar apps have always been mine problem. though maybe running a windows container is the solution to that now

you dont HAVE to switch, you can get very good performance as long as your linux code does not read/write to/from windows filesystem. so put your code in ~/code rather than /mnt/c
